Salam Conference,
RM 50 for an international conference? That is too good to be missed.
Alhamdulillah, Saba Islamic Media had invited me again(this time around with generosity of price ticket) to attend this 2nd series of International Islamic Conference. Last year, I attended this same conference with my beloved mother but we have to fork out RM 500 each to join the conference. This year around, God had open the path widely so that I would get the chance to grab auspicious knowledge that would serve my quest better in becoming formidable intellectual in future.
I presume for a conference like this, where the theme was set to be 'Unity for Peace' will serve the delegates with many important issues that currently revolving vigorously around the Muslim world. Not to forget those issues that have been rooted in our local scene.
The ceremony was officiated by Dato' Dr. Abdullah Md Zin and the keynote address was delivered by the President of IIUM, Tan Sri Sanusi Juned. Nothing special though from these two VIPs. Next, the schedule proceed to the first session which focus on the Ummah issues ranging from Iraq imperial hubris to Palestine-Zionist conflict and Darfur. Regional based issues were also discussed particularly on unity among South East Asian Muslims plus revealing the truth on Acech conflicts.
Before the participants were allow to enter the hall after the morning break, most of us were shocked by the strict rules about bringing in electronic devices-particularly devices that were equipped with camera. We were examined like a suspect terrorist with the sensors by the door usher and many expensive hand phones were confiscated temporarily due to the policy. It was quite annoying because as if we were going to a cinema to watch a blockbuster movie and already plan to capture the movie with our recording devices. Surely what they did was to preserve and monopolize the media right of the conference solely for Saba Islamic Media production. I think Saba has over fear on 'conference piracy' this time around.
Thank God the first session had served my intellectual appetite well by highlighting Middle East conflict of Arab-Israel problems in a new perspective according to Quran and Sunnah. The talk was given by Syaikh Imran Nazar Hosein that holds vast experience of knowledge regarding Jerusalem and Zionist movement. He had outlined 3 stages of Israel Imperial Agenda and we are in the 3rd stage already which clearly can be seen by the ever increasing power of Israel as next imperial power after America in the early 20th century. It was an enlightening speech and I will tell you guys later about the gist of the speech.
I met few of my friends including IIUM students that I had known earlier through the Inter faith program we joined together two months ago. The exhibition themselves are quite satisfactory with numerous Islamic products were being showcased earlier on. A sign of improvement in Halal product industry.
Only halal? Oh wait. Do not be mistaken with halal definition rigidly confined to food and beverages. Many of us are not aware in the great halal concept that covers wide range of products and service-not necessarily food and beverages.
I just could not update more because my eyes has turned red. I am tired and in a need of rest. Hopefully future entry, I will share some substances rather than emotional attachment in this entry.
